Hey guys I finally got my gears installed and WOW what a difference!! I am very happy with them. I do have a couple of questions though. When I took the old speedo gear out it was a light blue color. Am I correct in assuming(according to Steeda.com) that that color means that I had 2.73 gears in there? There was no # on the old pinion or ring gear so I wasn't sure what gears were actually in there. Also I did buy the purple speedo gear for the 3.73 gears that I just put in.(according to Obsol3tes chart) and my speedometer is about 5MPH faster than I'm actually traveling. Did I get the wrong speedo gear?? Thanxs for any help you guys and girls can give me. By the way my stang is a 88 5.0 LX with a auto transmission

$100 for gears off E-bay which also came with shims and crush sleeve. Had a freind install it for me for free otherwise installation is usually between $250 and $450

sounds like you need to go up 1 tooth gear

Yeah, I put a red gear in with my 3.73s.

hey 86HOGT i thought they only made speedo gears up to 3.55. i have a 91 5spd, where can i get a speedo gear for 3.73s? thanks

EDIT: scratch that, you can find them on ebay for 10 bucks instead of 20. i will order it there.

Is your stang an automatic? Because according to steeda the red speedo gear is for manual and I have a automatic. Thanxs for the help!!
