Default retainer rubbing rocker arm

i've got a set of gt-40p heads with comp cam beehive springs on them i bought them on a motor that was running fine. When i went to change the cam out i saw that 4 of the spring retainers were even with the valve stemand therocker arms are rubbing on top of the retainers

Freind told me that's not a problem, but wanted to get a second opinion & if it is a problem what can be done to correct it? could it be wrong size springs if so wouldn't all the retainers be in the same place. What would be the right size springsfor these heads with e303 cam

No, that's not fine at all. Take pics and post them. Do the valve tips look worn down?

looks like maybe the wrong locks used?? do the retainers require the 7 or 10 degree locks??

+1

It looks like the wrong locks/retainers.

These are the 26986 beehives with 10* locks/retainers.

it's possible they'd know but I believe they take 10 degree locks.. you can punch in the part number using summits search feature and the springs will come up with a listing and a required/ suggested parts link where it will list what locks are reccommended for the spring package / retainers

You have some serious issues there. First, I don't know if the picture is bad or what because of the angle, but the springs don't look like beehives. Either way the assclown who assembled those heads was smoking crack. Makes me wonder what else hefukkd up that you don't know about yet. The retainer is incorrect for the valve IMO based of the picture, likely stock vaves. Stock valves require two different height retainers. They do make lashing caps that would allow the rocker to clear the retainer, but that would be just putting a bandaidon a hemorrhage. I would contact Thumper http://www.thumperoforangepark.com/and replace the entire valve train with known correct parts.

Don't think i could just put some lash caps on the valve stems and make them longer do you?
