Got a question if anyone can help.. I have a 1988 GT that I am looking to upgrade the exhaust however I have been unable to determine the correct pipe size short of taking the old ones off. I have not taken the old ones off yet, also any recommendations on a good muffler would be great.. I was going to go with a Flowmaster 40 Series but I am open to suggestions from anyone that has experienced more than I. As you probably guessed I am new to the Mustang world I just bought my first last summer which is this 88'. Thanks in advance for any help.

I do believe the factory piping is 2.25 inches. but the collector for the headers is 2.5 most aftermarket h or x pipes are 2.5 x pipes make a few more horses, but most people agree that h-pipes sound better on the foxes. there are exhaust clips in the top of the 5.0 forums. go with a quality muffler that has the same inlet diameter as your mid pipe

i think flowmaster is used to much. i really like the slp catbacks they make for our foxbodys now. u should look into that or a custom exhaust with spintech prostreet mufflers.
