GT40 iron or TW
I have my new shortblock assembled and am ready to bolt the heads on my motor is a stock bottom end rebuild e303 trick flow street upper/lower and bolt ons my question is should i bolt my gt40 irons just redone and home ported with 1.7rr which i already have or should i buy Trick flow Tw heads which i will have to buy new rockers (1.6's)as well it will cost me about $1500 do get the heads rockers and pushrods is it worth the money to buy those heads or just use what i have? what kind of power difference between the twois it really worth the swap on a stock bottom end 302? also i will be using the e303 even if i switch to the tw heads

Don't think that number is quite right, 40 hp between the two....
Depending on how they are ported and polished GT40P's are a 40-50hp improvement over stockw/ 1.7's. An old Mustangs Unlimited catalog I had ('99) advertises Edelbrock's performer 5.0would add 70 hp (that is obviously a flywheel rating otherwise you wouldn't see so many people struggling to get to 300 rwhp with h/c/i), and Trickflow would be right up there with them. The P heads are a little higher compression, than the regular gt-40's.
We don't know what you did to them, the Trick Flows will probably give you more power out of the box, and the springs will run with that cam etc. But then again people run some impressive quarter times with worked GT40 irons.
You could always proceed with your heads with the home port, and then if that isn't good enough upgrade, especially if thethe tax man is going to be nice to you this year.

However...... don't make the mistake of "blaming" a component for not performing as expected. Keep in mind that no single part determines performance..... it's the combo that determines that..... and in your case, the E-303 would be the "weakest link"..... if you choose the TFS heads route.
