I screwed up...
I didn't look at the right stuff. What is the difference between the 94 t5 trans and the 93?
I couldn't get it in because the one I was trying to put in was from a 94 5.0. So I know the bearing retainer is different, but what else do I need to switch out?
The input shafts are the same length, but the little nub on the end is bigger, do I need to switch that out also?

RE: I screwed up...
you have to take the bearing support off, the best thing to do is to have the shift cover off too, which means you have to take the tail housing off.....and then it just seperates, but there are roller bearings in it, and they will fall all over the place when u take it out. isnt the tailhousing diff on a 94 also?

RE: I screwed up...
Not sure on the tail housing but I think they are the same. I went to the tranny shop and he said the whole think has to come apart, and something about a tapered bearing in the fox body one and a non tapered one being in the sn95 one. Sooo, I will sell it and be on the hunt for a fox body T5

Yeah it was my fault, I should of checked before trying to get it in.
I thought I had read somewhere that you could just switch them out without tearing it down, but can't seem to find where I read that at now... It would be nice though since I already have it and the weather is getting nice!

RE: I screwed up...
"tearing down" is not necessary...all u need to do is swap imput shafts ..you need a fox right?...if so make sure its not the four cylinder one.. as for the whole tear down..no...all it is..is remove bearing retainer...while the tranny is verticle..tail end bottom..shaft at top..pull the shaft straight up..its a 10-15 minute job...we had to do it when me n a buddy put a fox t5 in his 95 ...youll probably have to get a new bearing pressed on ..unless urs comes with one..but we just went to napa..they pressed it on n then installed..the tailshaft is no different...

RE: I screwed up...
I have the one that was in the car(bad 3rd gear synchro). So could I just switch them out?
So what would it involve? Removing the bearing retainer and pulling it out and slipping in the one from the correct trans? What about the tapered bearing?

RE: I screwed up...
What are they worth? When I got it, I had the tranny shop check it out, and the said it was in great shape... Oh I am in Michigan.
If switching out the shaft is just a quick job I would consider doing that...
