Default miss...stumble on acceleration

ok so i live in upstate ny...just got an 86 gt vert from california...compleately stock...86k original miles.my problem is...when i accelerate usually under load...going uphill the car seems to miss or stumble a bit in 3rd and or 4th gear....it doesnt feel like tranny...its an auto...but feels more like ignition cutting out for a split second....kinda jerks quick but keeps moving....the plugs look ok..also after its warmed up it idles poorly...any ideas?

most likely spark like you think, possibly vac

what plugs are in it ? don't use platinums, use cheap coppers gapped about .045"

.052" is stock gap, but if your ignition is weak it might not make it. close tham way up to check it...like .035"-.040 i use .042" for all the time but i spray too.

also do the cap, rotor, and wires....if they look new...make sure they are all "snapped" on good and double check the firing order.

after that look to the coil....but doubtful

also while your in there...look for brittle vac lines that may have broken

I would agree with nitrous_bob, I had the exact sympton but it turned out to be one of the connectors going to the coil. This was an odd one and self induced but the symption was just like what mine was doing, look over the coil, cap, rotor, plus and wires.

with that kind of low milage on an 86 it most likely has original plugs and wires and cap and rotor ..i'd replace them if so
