RE: Heads? Which ones with this setup???
everyone on this board will say afr165s. i say go with a set of GTP heads. you can find them cheap port them and have a decent set of heads. some will argue this point but ive seen cars run 11s with these heads non touched. i personally have a set for my build up

RE: Heads? Which ones with this setup???
I am new to the mustangs, but arent these the heads off of the cobra's? lke the 93's?
Either way, how much power can be expected from these heads?
I have a few mods including headers, exhuast, cobra ecu/maf and other small things.
I am looking to throw in a new TB and a intake maifold at the same time
thanks for the help, I appreciate the tips and please keep them coming

RE: Heads? Which ones with this setup???
if you get the GT40P heads you might need to get new headers because most aftermarket headers cant accomodate the spark plug angle. just take that into account before you go buy. [&:]

RE: Heads? Which ones with this setup???
actually i didnt read your post, and lets just hope he has bbk unequal length or he will need to buy new headers, i just wanted him to know so he doesnt run into trouble after he gets the P heads. you did not inform him of this header issue. so i did.

I apppreciate the help guys, other than that. What heads will work best with my combo?
Will some work better than others?
And are there anyother bad sides to going with the gt-40 heads? Will the make a noticable difference?
Thanks, Marco

RE: Heads? Which ones with this setup???
mark,
there are different types of GT40 heads out there.
basically the GT40 from aftermarket compaines like summit (GT40X, GT40Y etc..)
and then the GT40P which are stock heads on a 5.0 explorer. those work great on 5.0 mustangs, best bang for the buck head. only problem with those heads is the spark plug angle might not allow you to bolt up the headers. depends though, some shorty heads can fit those heads. i dont know which but as ohsoquik said before the unequal length BBK headers can fit them fine.
IMO first decide what your power goal is and then work from there.
from what i anticipate, you want a streetable car with 300+ HP, GT40 heads and intake with an E cam will get you there easily. just remember that you can go about it different ways, do it yourself way which takes some work and time but less money, or buy new heads which flow better but costs more.
