shifter vibrates in 1st

shifter vibrates in 1st
so im sitting at a light and i go to put it into 1st and it starts vibrating like crazy
i let off the clutch and let the car rool back a little bit and it engaged fine. next light im at a hill, it does the same thing. i roll back and its fine again.
we park and get food, i come out and put it into 1st and its fine...
what could be the issue here? the shifter is a slush box and i think it may have a bad spring or something along those lines.
