so now the starter went out
cant seem to do what i want to the car because of everything else deciding to break instead. anyway how hard is it gonna be to change the starter? got long tube headers, are they going to cause problems? i havent crawled under to see yet, im still a little ticked off. also should i just get an oem rebuild from auto-zone or should i order a high torque one from somewhere like summit or ebay?

RE: so now the starter went out
first make sure it's really the starter that died. check and clean the battery cable connections and the engine ground connection and the hot cable connection at the starter and on the solenoid also. then if you know the battery is good and it still won't start, then the fun will begin. long tubes do make getting the starter off more trouble than it should be but you can do it with a long extension wrench and some good cussing and swearing, at least that's what I've heard from the fans on here of long tubes like Obsol3te! LOL
You don't need an expensive high torque starter, just get a good stock one from NAPA, especially if you do find it's a real pain in the *** to change it out.

With the long tubes its a hit or miss thing but in general they make it a little tougher to muscle the starter out. Don't forget to disconnect the battery unless you feel like welding lol. And unless you want to do the job again soon don't buy a cheap parts store replacement.
