Default oil pan gasket

anyone know first hand if i can put a new gasket in without raising the motor, i know you need to in order to replace the pan, its a 87 gt. id rather un bolt the pan and slide the old out and the new in befor i lifethe motor. thanks for ur help

i just changed my oil pan gasket over the weekend, on my 92 GT. i had to drop the rack and pinion. ( was changingit anyways.) but with it out of the way you can drop the pan down far enough to change the gasket. its a tight fit, but can be done.... forget about getting the pan all the way out, unless you drop the tranny and lifting the engine.

your biggest prob will be cleaning surface of pan and block to prep it for a new gasket

thanks guys, ill get it done either way im leaking oil like no tomorrow. Paint in a few weeks then i gotta get the last couple esential parts and ill finaly be able to enjoy my car the wait has been killing me

Took me 45 minutes - 1 hour to replace the pump. All you need to do is unbolt the motor mounts and the fan shroud the jack up the motor.
Make sure you get a one peice gasket.
