I am looking to buy a 89 Mustang GT (meaning a 5.0). It has 60k miles on it, the body has a dent on the front right above the wheel, and some peeling paint on the front bumper (original paint job). Everything else works, runs good, what price sounds right for it?

Listen, I know what book is on mustangs, but if you check out ebay or your local paper you will see those cars sell for 4 - 5 k all day long still. Remember, those books are updated with people sitting at dealer only auctions and watching what cars are selling for. A dealer isn't gonna pay squat for a 1989 model vehicle simply because they dont want something that old on their lot. Those cars are getting up there in mileage too. Street value on those cars are alot higher. Show me an 89 GT for less than 3500.00 and I will buy it in a heartbeat and Im not even in the market for one. Hell, I SOLD an 89GT TOTALLY TRASHED. Torque boxes were busted, the t5 was grinding, the motor sounded good but the paint was gone, interior was trashed (windows down in police impound for 6 months), overall the car was a piece of garbage. Still sold it ON EBAY for 1600 bucks, and the guy didnt even look at it before he bought it and was very happy to get it for that price.

I say offer the guy 3k but be willing to pay 4k.

What about an 86 gt? Next year im gonna put a 308 crate engine in it( 302 bored 6 over). So with a brand new engine, 88 GT interior excpet seats and dash+ center sol, new paint,+ rims do you say an 86 GT would go for?
