351W/ GT40 heads on a 5.0

351W/ GT40 heads on a 5.0
first off i know about the 10 million pages on this saying you can do it, but i need to hear it and read it as pertaining to me.
One of my projects (the 347 shooting for 500hp+) has been scaled back due to complications in my wifes pregnancy [&o]. so i will have to go another route with less money involved, so im looking for max cash to work done possible, im very mechanically inclined so i can do 90% of my own work.
Here's question. what do i need to do to the 351w (or gt40) heads which one is better ported/polished, and which are cheaper? will i need to modify anything for the GT40's?

what are you asking here? What is better to port and ploish the heads or the block[8D]

It seems that more people use the gt40s. If you send them to Thumper Performance they claims they can get gt40s to flow even better than any aluminum head you can buy off the shelf. You can get a pair off an explored at a junkyard for less than $100.
