Speedo Gear ----> New Tranny???
I just bought a used T5 and its a 1992 model. My car is a 89, and i know the speedometer gear has an extra tooth. I have a 3.73 gear so i had to get a recalibration gear. Can i use this with the new trans or do i need to grab a diff gear. I was thinking if it a problem i can just use the old off my old T5... thanks!

yeah w/ our trannies you need the 21 tooth driven (red one for t5) try ebay and 50 resto
if you ever have it apart...or rebuild your old one...the best thing to do is a 6 tooth drive...that way you can correct all the way to 4:56 i think , 4:30's for sure though....cost you $6

My old one is apart, so im thinking about popping the tailshaft housing off on the newer onand changing the speedo gear. I figured it might be good to change the fluid anyways...
