Default MASS AIR FLOW problems any ideas

i could unhookmaf sensor start car & it willstart & run great i am told i shouldnt start with it unpluged so i bought a new one instaled it & worked like it should THEN a few days later my mileage droped off first thing i looked at was maf sensor bad again i swaped out for another new one& no workie right out of the box could i have another problem & if so what[sm=smiley35.gif]

Did you reset the comp when you changed the MAF the first time? Just trying to figure out how the replacment would work for a short period of time then the same symptoms come back. Did you try the KOEO\KOER test, and any codes showing?

pulled the battery cables when i done the swap both times & masair flow probmems wont show up on KOEO\KOER test my buddy works for ford but can only hook up computer for free at certant times it might bee a week before he can get to it & at 59 bucks a pop i aint gonna pay the ford house

My initial thought is the problem is elsewhere possible not related to the MAF and with it disconnected it is returning to open loop programming but again this is just a guess.

Pull codes and see what you find...

There are ways to pull the codes without the readers... a search of this site should locate a link to one of those procedures.

3rd maf sensor in 5 days thisone idlrs like it has a cam in it & kind of like krap when you unplug it it idles up 200-300 rpm & smooths out

Soundl like you might have other problems like wiring, bad ecm or a vacuum leak.

got these codes i have egr unhooked so i know why 33 comes up ,66 should be good as i have replaced maf 3 times in a week or so mabe ill replace it again or shoulg i try replacing the computer ??? i have no idea about 23 code
