my dad used to swear by using Coke on the window to clean off oily gunk. don't forget to clean the wiper blades also.
you can also make up your own cleaner using some household ammonia and dish washing detergent in hot water.

i use coke also when i get grime on my windsheild. i turn the blades on and pour a 12 ounce can on it then rinse it off so it wont make everything sticky. works wonders and is cheap. oh and you want to stand on the passenger side when pouring, otherwise you might get coke thrown all over you. my dumb@@@ still forgets that sometimes.

As a pro window cleaner, I back this suggestion.

Also works to clean your hands after working on your car. No need for those fancy hand cleaners. Dawn takes care of the oil and grime.
