just remember the tangs on the big end of the rod face the lifter bore on a ford. And you cant put the pistons on backwards knowingly, they only have 2 valve reliefs and those are up, towards the lifter valley.

+1 mrj46.. if you look at the rod you will see one side of the rod has a chamfer cut into it.. that's the radius that side go's toward the crank throw. BUT wait what kind of crank and rods you running???? forged internals call for a different bearing so they do not contact the crank at the radius.

not always true, for instance you can usually use a 1227p 2.100 bearing on a steel crank with a .125 radius or a cb634p for the small 331-347 stuff. The bearing is no narrow its miles away from the radius, other times you may need to run an H series.

ok i looked at the rods today, and i couldnt figure out what the chamfer is, they looked identical on both sides, one side has stamped in it a 5 digit number, the other has s7 on the rod and 02 on the cap on every rod, so i dont think the numbers have anything to do with it, they are eagle cast i beams for a 408w. any help? i would like to get this thing together
Thanks!
