my dad said he thinks my cables are bad...cuz i do remember one time my dad did play around and it fired right over...does autozone have the cables?

Yes they do, I had to get them on the project a few weeks back due to a similar issue. After I got the old off I stripped the insulation a foot back and it was all flaky green.
