accessory wire "power when is on position"
im hooked up the electric fan and i thought i had it hooked up just fine. never over heated. ran it for an hour yesterday driving around. well i guess the fan never kicked on once but the rad is really hott and the so the thermostat is hott and i assume all the connection are correct except the one wire i have hooked up to a "key on" position wire. what should i use the accessory wire to power up only when the car is running? any suggestions of an easilly accessable accessory wire i can use?

well you can always get a longer wire and run it to the fuse panel, and hook it to a fuse you know is an accessory, thats kinda of a pain tho...im gonna keep an eye on this thread tho, im hoping to get a elec. fan sooner or later...sorry if i didnt help...lol

i'd rather not. the long the wire is at a small gauge runs higher resistences, burn out caponents faster due to the heat. i'd rather take a short route to something that is close.

just to make sure its all working right for right now hook that wire straight to the battery see if the fan comes on. i almost never have my fan on while im driving even when im sitting at a light or stop sign. the only time its on is when im sitting in traffic for a while other than that just driving im around 165-170* and sitting i never let it get hotter than 195

Prob a dumb question but where is it hooked up now? My initial thought would be to tie in to the starter relay, not really a hot in run connection but would have power for certain and fan should only run when needed by temp sensor and relay.

there is a green wire on back of alternator that is on when key is on. i have a one wire alternator so that wire was just sitting around doing nothing for me so when i put in my electric fan i used that one for the thermostatic relay key on power one. it routes to underneath your starter solenoid (the green alternator wire)
