Default Help With New Speedometer Cable

Ok so I got a 87 5.0 with a Auto AOD, I put a new speedometer cable in it beucase I bought it and it had one out of a 5Spd tranny, I can put the guage itself to a drill and it will read a good constant speed, but in the car it bounces like crazy like +/- 15 mph, the cable is brand new, and the gear on the tranny looks good. Do I need to do something to the cable is it sticking in the case or what??

The gears on the end of the cable are different for a T-5 and an AOD. The teeth are cut in the opposite direction.
You need the matching gear for the rearend ratio that is for an AOD.

Did you get the correct gear for the AOD?
