Default going from t5 to aod

i'm getting a aod with a 2800 stall basically because im tired of the hard pedal pressure and the aod can hold up to 450 hp. i just wanted what will i need to get to make the switch. will the crossmember be the same and can i hook my speedometer cable into the aod. also about how much will it be to fix the overdrive .

did you get an aod with a bad OD band? The crossmember should be the same but I think you will have to get a different speedo gear.

dude.... are you in the market for any bridges ?

you need to seriously think about what you just said.

first off, an aod hold won't even hold a stock motor for too long, and second, depending what converter is in it...if the od band is toast, more is broken too. i am gonna assume it's a lentech tranny. otherwise....i'll pay you $200 and give you an aod for your t5

basically it's $500 for a new converter and 2800 isn't all that high so go w/ a 3000 when you get the new one, $2000 for the rebuild since the sunshell will be all scored up, and the frictions will be no good either...might as well pay another few hundred for redline clutches, you'll need the flexplate if it doesn't come w/ it too.

i'd say ballpark $3000 and you can be slower than you were w/ a 5-speed

HP Rating - up to 425
1) does it have the optional low gearset ?
2) that doesn't come w/ a converter
3) all that really has is redline clutches and "a" servo from the description

and is is better than a t5 ? imo no.....i had a n aod setup better than that...it lasted 8 months behind a stock '90 GT that went 14.40's

it had the motorsport low gearset (which has all the better internals) transgo shift kit, and tci 2200 stall converter.

the 2220 felt basically stock, they NEED 3000 stall

besides...call a tranny shop and ask them. if the converter in that trans has no drain plug...it's toast, and if the od band is wore out...you'll need to replace more than just that.

hah you guys are killing my idea to get a nicely built lentech. I'll do it anyway though, i like the stockness of a car :P

as said before, if the OD is worn, be prepared for a few other issues and possibly losing the gear all together after a while of driving on it.
i say spend a bit more for something that's solid!

i must have gotten a nice aod or it is something else, it came with the car when i bought it a few years ago, 100,000 mi on it and no issues w/ the trans, i'm now running 320-350 hp and running low 12's i drive it hard almost every day. top speed around 145 150.i guess i'm just lucky
