Early upshifting
Got my stupid 85 GT (Auto, CFI) Running again. I took it out for a drive today, and the damn thing upshifted at 2000RPM under WOT. My guess would be the kickdown is out of adjustment, right? Its the solid linkage (Not a cable) Is there a proper way to adjust this? I ended up holding the poor thing in first just to be safe. (I hear its easy to **** em up if the Kickdown is out of adjustment) Am I thinking pretty clear? Is there a proper way to adjust the damn thing?

RE: Early upshifting
check to see if the bolt fell out of the kickdown rod..my 85 used to be cfi with an aod...... the proper way is to have a pressure gauge hooked into the test port and place it in gear and set rod length until pressure falls into spec......however i SET mine to feel and you can get it close enough... there should be a rod down to the tranny from the THrottle linkage that is adjustable......adjust it is small increments and test drive it until it feels right at the setting you put it at

RE: Early upshifting
Thanks MJR! Yeah, It took me two tries, but its back to where it used to be. You ever have a problem with the trans leaking right where the cooler lines are? My bolts are tight, but it leaks right from the top line where it bolts to the trans. And theres smoke comin off of my Y pipe. Other than that, the car is almost ready for everyday driving!
