Replacing alternator?

RE: Replacing alternator?
Just got it tested and it was good some where between 14.0 14.5 volts.
My battery was only two month old and I had to get it recharged. What could it be that was discharging it?
Thats wierd if it's not the alternator then wha else?

RE: Replacing alternator?
I don't know, but if you keep unhooking the battery while it is running, you are taking a big chance of frying the computer and other electronics in the car.
The battery acts as a voltage capacitor to eliminate any voltage spikes. If you unhook the battery, and the regulator is stuck open, the voltage can spike up really high which will fry the computer, stereo and any other electrical part that is on. I have even see bulbs blow up when this is done!!

RE: Replacing alternator?
Did you drive it to the parts store and test it while it was installed or take it separated? If it was in the car they should be able to tell you if the battery is getting the charge or not,if it is not and the alt has been verified check the wiring between it and batt.
