Default Oil Pump bad? Bad sending unit?

I took my car out for a spinyesterday and I noticed as I was driving it that at idle my oil pressure would drop right down to 0, as soon as I got my rpm's back up to 1500 it would shoot right back up to the "M" in normal

Anyone have any ideas of whats wrong?? Is my oil pump just shot or maybe my sending unit fooked?

I would appreciate any help you have

Cheers

Just had this problem myself and it could be either. Best way to find out is to go out and buy a decent mechanical oil pressure gauge, remove the stock sending unit and hook it it up, see what the pressure really is. If its good, sending unit or gauge, Bad, your pump may be pooched but as I was informed in 9 out of 10 cases it either the sender or the gauge.

Mine was doing almost the exact same thing, Hooked up the mechanical gauge and it turns out I'm running (at 195f) 22lbs at idle and about 48lbs at 2000rpm. So the stock gauge was flat out lying, turns out the stockgauges and sending units are notorious for that.
