Default Do I need to use OD in the 1/4

My AOD's OD gear is slipping, will I need to use the OD gear in the 1/4 or will just putting it in D work?

u gunna race with a slipping tranny?

my 93 had an AOD with 3.27's and i had to shift into OD just after passing the line.

it would actually fall on its face at the end cause it would be closing in on 6 grand

You should never use an aod in od at full throttle. The overdrive band is too weak and it will burn up.

it wont shift anyway..

i always had to let off 3/4 of the throttle to get it to shift

my car only ran 14.1 in the 1/4 mile but if it was a 5 speed or even just geared differently it would have been faster

sorry for the bad answers.....

aod's WILL NOT SHIFT INTO OD under WOT, so you never used it to begin with

so it doesn't matter...but you should stay in d for the time being....just to hold off more tranny contamination. if the od band is not gripping..it's just contaminating. so don't even bother.

i raced plenty on my aod cars w/ no od , the trans is already shot...so if you leave it in d....no harm done.

4.10 geared aod will go through the traps about4800 ... far from optimal...both my 5-speed cars hit about 5500, while squirting

Like previously stated, you dont want to go to OD in a 1/4 and you would have to pat the gas to get it into OD anyway.
