Hey, same things happening with my engine. Did an oil and filter change about 1 week ago. Warmed her up, pulled both drain plugs and let her sit and drain down for a full 20 mins while I messed around with something else. After putting the plugs back in and installing a new Motorcraft Filter I put in exactly 4.73liters(5 quarts) of 10w30. Ran it for 5 Mins then let it sit for about 5 min and checked the oil and the level was a full 1/2 inch above the full mark. Now just for the record Its an 88 Notch 5.0 lightly modded and I have owned it since it was new so if anybody had screwed with the dipstick I'd know about it. Any ideas Guys.

5 1/8 qts fills mine to the line. I usually burn/leak 3/4 of a qt per month.

And why did you not do it yourself in the first place?

Do it yourself next time and that way everything goes down smooth, just stop being lazy, whats the point in having a 5.0 if you don't do your own labor?

I posted this issue the other day but not sure what too do. Here it is, I had my oil changed at a shop and when i checked the oil it was a inch past the full line. I asked my mechanic how much oil he put in and he said 4.5 litres, i then showed him on the dipstick how full it was and he said the oil was completely drained. This is the second time its happend to me and the first time i made them take it down to the full line, this was at a different shop. So my thing is, do i have the wrong dipstick or what, im sure i have the stock oil pan. WTF thx for any help.
Mine does that too.... I change my own oil and I knowI put in 5 quarts and it does read about an inch above full..so I just use that as my reference point....

as long as both drain plugs are drained and only 5 quarts are put in...you are good...

my old notch did not have an accurate dipstick either
