Is the suspension ok? Wondering if the goosing it in 5th caused the *** end to drop suddenly maybe making the bang. You can always put it in reverse, roll back a little, stop slowly but stop, then put in first and let off the clutch to see if you have any noise there from the u-joints but I suspect it was the rear end dropping.
