I probably don't understand the question but the torque converter sits in front of the trans and acts as a couple between the engine and trans. A hi-po converter has a higher stall speed than stock and allows more engine rpm and therefor power to be transmitted at take-off. Stock stall speeds are low....like 900 rpm or so.

I can't quite see your mods, but I wouldn't go any bigger than a 2800 on a near stock 5.0. You're not gonna be making that much power up top.

i run a 2200-2400rpm in my daily driver and love it. i cant wait to see how it responds when i put my gears in.
when i first put it in my miliage dropped from 14mpg to about 10mpg cause it made the trans shift so much higher in the rpm under light throttle. when i started letting off my foot off the gas a bit at 2500 it would shift. it still wont shift into 4th untill i pass 60mph so when i drive around town im always in 3rd (another thing gears will fix) and in 3rd i get 16mpg.

Stock stall speeds are more like 1500 to 1800. A 2500 stall should work quite well if you have a few bolt on mods.

i have a 2800 rpm converter and 3.90 gears and it seems to bog a little right off the line (flashing the converter) i'm still experimenting though. anyways, ive heard of lots of people running up to 3000 rpm converters on stock stangs.

hey luckythirteen, it will shift much earlier when you get your gears. under full throttle mines revs first out to about 5200 rpm, shifts to second, than almost right away shifts to third. if i accelerate slowly im in 4th by 35-40 mph.
