Default 92 LX runs strong then dies.....

I have a 92 LX 5-speed. The car runs great for 10 minutes then shuts down, no sputtering, just shuts down. I let it sit for 20 minutes and i'm able to start it and make it home. So yesterday I changed the plugs, wires, cap, rotor and coil and the car does the same thing. I've searched the posts and got some conflicting info. I know it's not a fuel pressure issue, I have a fuel pressure gauge on my a pillar. I assume that it's an ignition control module or something in the distributor, right? My car has MSD coil, MSD distributor, MAC CAI, MAC headers, Mac O/R H-pipe and MAC mufflers. The rest of the car is stock. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! -Dave

when it won't start do you have spark?? and or fuel pressure??? need to narrow it down!!....most likely it's a spark issue and when it won't start you need to run the tests and on msd's website there are troubleshooting instructions for their elec components....you'll need a multimeter to test the pick up coil in the dizzy for correct resistance reading.....but if you just want to slap a part try the tfi module

My brother N law has a 95 that did the same thing. I rebuilt his distributor with a new pick up and it fixed the problem. His was doing exactly the same thing. Just my 2 cents

I agree, sounds like the TFI module.

x3... those things don't really like heat which would explain after 10 minutes, after your engine heats up.

Possible it could be something else, but my guess is on the tfi.

TFI Moduale! Seen this plenty of times... Its typical for them to go and be particularily sensitive to heat.
