Default Will a chip fix this?

Ive been having a problem with my car ('92 5.0) running too rich lately and its rather jerky driving around in the city because it seems to be dumping fuel too much and the car chugs, especially between 2000 and 2600 rpm.
Sometimes on the highway doing about 65 mph theres a slight skip as well. Ive been told thats also a fuel issue.
When driving the car it smells like its running very rich and it makes my eyes burn.
It also stalls and dies every time I start it but once I start it again it usually doesnt stall at all.

I recently had a 255 lph fuel pump and a fuel pressure regulator installed, as well as a '93 Cobra computer. I also had a 5 speed swap done. The car has h/c/i. Other mods are here:

When my foot is on the floorboard the car runs great and I dont have any issues with it, just when cruising along in the city. It runs alot better than it did when it had the POS AOD and stock A9P computer.

Ive had a few people tell me that a custom chip would fix this problem. Some of those people seem to know what theyre talking about.

If a chip will fix it where do I get one?

I think you can pick chips up with a box tune anywhere, but in your situatuion needinga custom chip, you'll need to head to ur local dyno. I think. Either way a dyno tune would probly help you the most.

One problem I see is the 160 thermostat. Stock is 195 or 192 one of those. Why would you go 160 thats why its rich. I would change it and put in a 180 thats the lowest I would go. And get it dyno tuned and it will be like a night and day difference. That to me has got to be the major problem in your situation.

Ive got the 160 in there because I was having a problem with the car overheating. It ended up being a bad fan clutch but I never changed out the thermostat.

Ill have to swap it out this week when I get a chance. I didnt think it made that big of a difference.

As far as a dyno tune goes theres no place to go around here. I think the nearest tuner is 3-4 hours away.

In all honesty, I say set aside a weekend, and head up there. It'll benefit the car alot.

Well, with a 160* the ecm uses the coolant temperature control sensor to control A/F.

Simply changing the thermostat out, now that your fan is fixed should solve your problem

also yall need to remember, a chip dont fix technical issues, they make them worse.

Give a tuner a vehicle with a technical problem to start tweeking, and give him a nightmare.

i dont mean to hijack your thread, but i figure might as well as the question here rather than make a new thread. I am having a very similar problem as the op. The car is fine until it heats up, then the problem becomes more obvious. But it gets even worse after i turn it off and start it up again shortly after. Could this be related to the thermostat, or should i be looking elsewhere for the problem?
