fuel pump continues to run

after i turn off the ignition my fuel pump continues to run and the exsess pressure vent out of my fuel pressure regulator. what could b makin the pump run after the cars been shut off?

Check the fuel pump relay under the drivers seat.The relay may be sticking on.
Try tapping on the relay and see if it turns off.If not unplug it and try a new one.
