5.0L Freak

Whats up boys/girls?
i am currently interested in purchasing my first stang.. i am looking for a lot of power, i am wondering if there is any problems or anything i should know before buying? what year? what much HP/ft.lbs? Also wondering if i should supercharge it? or just buy a better engine.. i need help lol thanx ppl

well the 5.0 is the best looking and has the better engine, it also has a wealth of aftermaket parts available, but ther are those who like the 94 and up look and the smaller engine made for less emmissions, but if you got money to spend like 25-30k a newer slightly used cobra with dohc4.6 and supercharged with a stock 6spd isn't a bad choice at all. all in all you'd be better off with an 89-93 5.0.

Well, just a correction 88GT, 1994-1995 were also 5.0's, the 4.6 wasn't introduced into the Mustang until 1996, and BTW, NEVER buy the 1996, it was a VERY unreliable year since it was the first year they used that engine in that car.

I think that he was talk about the 94 and up body style. Get a 5.0, there's WAY more potential in the 302 than there ever will be in the 4.6.

5.0 are way worth it the 5.0 will also last longer if taken care of

ahah yes i asked this same question when i came to the boards... and got the sammmee answer...5.0 in the 94 or 95 style..becuz at that point in time that engine wass pretty much perfected, the 96 4.6's is not a year to go with because like demon sed.....very unreliable cuz it was the first year.... GOOD LUCK and if u find any thing in like the new york area on auto trader ofr sumthing .,...let me know im still searching!

The only drawback to the 94 and the 95 is that they are heavier than the fox bodied 5.0s.

I agree.............. 95 5.0L all the way. If you know a little about cars I would suggest that you go with a GT not Cobra then u can have some fun modding the car the way u want. Or if you dont kno much and dont have time 2 mod and have mucho $$ i would go with the Cobra.

If you want a foxbody, go 1991 or 1992, not 1993, it uses a different type of piston that does not take power-adders very well, and I believe 1990 and before it had 15" "turbine" style rims instead of the 16" "pony" rims.
