The CHP here in CA had the 5.0's for quite a while, but now they run chebbies that are not built anymore (if you get my drift). The 5.0's had heavy duty everything, water pump, alternator, clutch, brakes, fan, etc. They may not be as fast in the 1/4, but could go fast for a long time, as in PURSUIT. You go on a road course with your dad, and he'd eat you alive if you haven't done any suspension mods. If I ever find one, I'd pick it up in a heart beat.

Government? No, but police tend to maintain their vehicles pretty well. Would you go out in a high speed persuit with a car that wasn't maintained? If you were liable, would you send an employee out in one?

They may get trashed, but so long as they're in service they get fixed.
