clutch pedal has mushy, spongy feel
#11
I had a problem simimlar to this after puchasing a ford motor sport cable and quadrant kit. The cables are cheap!
The cable is lined with thin metal rods that surround the cable in the lining. After time I started feeling my clutch was really hard to push in and was also having the same types of problems you are having with the creaking noises and hard to press.
I finally figured out that as I was pressing on the clutch the metal rods were actually being pulled through the cable and were all sticking out under the dash.
I also didn't like the adjustable cable at all either and ended up replacing it with a stock cable and ever since the clutch has felt great. The car is a pleasure to drive again!
Hope this helps.
