Default problem

Okay last night I took off my air silencer. I disconnected my battery to reset my computer. Then I took the car for probably a 6 mile drive. Now when I go to put my car in park, it idles weird for about 5 seconds. My car almost dies. Does anyone know why this is happening? Did I maybe not drive my car long enough to reset my computer?

Please help.
Thankyou.

for how long did you disconnect the battery. i think its supposed to be about 20 minutes. then you need to drive for 25-50 miles.

yeah I had it disconnected for probably an hour, because I cleaned up everything really well.
I will try driving it for that long and see what the results are.

thanks

you should "reset" the computer after doing any mods to the engine. by disconnecting the negative battery cable for 15 minutes, this clears the KAM (keep alive memory) in the computer for the readings it was used to seeing from all the various engine sensors and it will learn the new readings once you have driven the car normally for a while.

The computer will recalculate the proper parameters once you floor it at WOT. Driving it 5 miles or 50 miles won't make a difference.

My car does the same thing. When it is cold and I have driven it hard (late for work kind of driving) and when I press in the clutch it drops to 500rpms and back to 800-900 for normal idle. Only does this when I drive hard when cold. Shows that you should always warm up your car.

I also need an oil change really bad and have taken my silencer off too. But to let you know my car did that before the silencer was taken off. Think it is a bad battery or fuel pump showing signs of dying.
