I'm sure it's faster and not just in your head. I say it in every stat thread I post in, but it bears repeating. You should run the highest temp stat you can without detonating or compromising the tune. Hotter engine means the fuel vaporizes more readily and combustion occurs more rapidly, which means more power. Engines need heat to work, cold air and cold wet fuel don't combust well. This is true in EFI cars where you need enough temp to close the loop and get precise fuel metering, and in carb'd cars that need the heat to vaporize/atomise the fuel in the intake.
Thanks. Also, just wondering what your thought were on this...

My car still seems to be running a bit cooler than before even with a new 195 back in. I'm not sure if the radiator is keeping it cooler, or if the thermostat is opening sooner than it should, or both. (I'm guessing the radiator doesnt matter, since the thermostat is the thinghelping to regulatethe temp??). As I said before, the temp gauge used to always reach and stay in the middle of the gauge after warmup. Now it stays one notch below middle, and happened to dipdown to the next notch above 130for a bit while driving on the highway for an hour with the A/C on doing 80 mph. Assuming the temp gauge is correct, is that a little low?

FYI, I originally had a 195 on from a few years ago, then 160 went on by mistake last week with new radiator...2 days later a new Stant 195 thermostat went in.

Thanks.
