Default GT-40 HEAD SWAP

HELLO ALL,
This is my first post on this forum, and i am looking for some help.
I bought my 17yo son his first car back in august,a 1993 lx hatch 5.0 auto.
We have done several upgrades on the car, all aimed at upping performance and not hurting mpg.
we have installed equal length mac headers-bbk converter delete x-pipe-flowmasters-underdrive pulleys -electric fan- new o2 sensors(104k car)
trans go shift kit in trans- and 3.55 gears(which really did not hurt mileage as much as expected) put some other little black box that btaps into the act sensor on it(bought it off ebay) really dont know if it made any difference

1st question: i bought a 70mm ford maf off ebay, i was told it was calibrated for the 19lb injectors, how do i tell for sure? the actual sensor is ford and has ford part numbers e4sf-12b579-aa
2nd question: I bought a 40k explorer motor out of a wrecked truck from the local wrecking yard early 96 model with the gt40 heads. what are the cc's of these heads? i dont want to lose compression when i make the swap. I read the e7s were 62cc what are the gt40 cc's? Should i use the skiny injectors that are on the explorer motor over the ones on the car?? TIA Rick

1) Gt40 heads are 60cc combustion chambers so it will actually up the compression a little bit.

2) get rid of the little black box junk, its actually telling the computer that the air coming into the engine is colder than it is so that is dumps more fuel into the car

3) Make sure they are GT40 heads and not GT40X heads, the spark plug angle is different on the two and will require special headers for the X heads

4) use the explorer intake too, its the same as the cobra 5.0 intake

5) Put in a cam while you have the engine pulled down that far to maximize your gains and add roller rockers (size dependent of cam) to the list

6) Scrap the 70mm MAF and get a C&L 76mm that is calibrated for 24 lb injectors and then buy some 24lb injectors

7) hello 290 RWHP

THANKS,
thee heads have GT cast into the corners and 3 bars on the ends. I am told they are the regular 40s, i hope so. i was not interested in changing headers again!
Any advice on the injectors? TIA Rick

its the GT40P heads that require special headers...and 290rwhp? negative. more like 270ish..if the GT40s are jsut bolted on, no work done to them

i know there is member on here who recently did the full gt40 swap in his 95 and made 270 at the wheels..

I stand corrected I am thinking P's and Typed X instead, X heads are the Aluminum GT40 Heads...

and with a decent Cam, Roller Rockers, Gt40 heads, and Explorer intake, Injectors, and a tune, I promise he could be over 290 RWHP

^ that sounds right, I know that you will lose compression with gt40s.

Take the heads to a machine shop and have them milled .025" to retain compression.

The stock 19lbs injectors will work fins for that setup. I know a few people running GT40 heads, GT40 Intake, and a B303 cam with the stock 19lbs injectors!
