Default How do I check the level of Gear Oil?

1991 Fox GT.

I was just wondering how to check the amount/level of Gear Oil in the gearbox? Automatic Trannys have a dipstick.

under the car, on the passenger side of the tranny there are two 1/2" (ithink) plugs
the lower one is the drain, and the top one is the fill/max level plug

Ok, so the fill/max level has a plug. To check the level do I take out the plug? If gear oil comes out it's full? Need a lil more info [8D]

3/8" square drive plug. If fluid comes out its full unless it come flying out then its too full. The usual consensus is that if you can feel fluid when you stick your finger in its good. I usually go with fluid being level with the bottom of the plug.

Oh really?

I didn't know that. I have synthetic gear oil in it now. I'll drain it and refill it with GM Sychromesh.
