Hi, I have a 1994 mustang gt 5 speed with 57,000 miles on it. I just bought it a couple months ago and have put on super 44 flowmaster cat backs, and a non-catted bbk H-pipe. I was thinking about doing headers next butIlike the way my car sounds now. I was looking for some more acceleration because I was racing my buddies 05auto gt and I wasgetting him in 2nd gear but he gets me on the top end(not by much though). Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

concider yourself very lucky to have a low mileage 5.0 like that, but anyways, if you want some more acceleration look into getting gears, i have 3.73's and i love them but some people like 4.10's. most will say 3.73's for auto and 4.10 for auto. if your worried about sound change, i dont think you will be dissapointed with it. i would finish up your exhaust and and do gears.

He meant to say 3.73's for stick and 4.10s for auto. I personally have 3.55's in mine and I love them. (stick)

Definitly gears, match the gear to whatever cam you end up using. Most street cars dont need more than a 373 gear.

gears for sure. 373 in a stick and i love it, i wouldnt hesitate to do 4.10 tho

Gears... For sure... i just put a auto in mustang, but my car is a street/strip car mainly strip and i'm about to move up to 4.30's (we have a 1/8th track).... Trust me you'll be happy with the gears 3.73's you'll notice about a 300-500 rpm difference while cruising, other then that you'll be golden.

i love my 4.10's, use to have 2.73's and its a huge difference.


at 55-60mph im at 2k rpm, but i dont really drive to fast on the highway, so idk above that what the rpms are at.


but the thing tears off the line now, love it.



btw, i never got the mustang for gas mileage, and if you did, iwouldent get4.10's

think your's are 2.73.... i think (just like mine came with)-- i could do 80 on the hiway in 5th @ 1500 rpms, now---- hahaha yeah right wont even try it with a 3spd
