What also is weird is the right side has the clearance and does not rub. I did notice that when the right tire (the one that rubs) is straight the left side is still pointed outwardand is not straight on..

same size tires often vary between maufactorers...often times two 245/45/17 or vice versa side by side from different manufactorers will be visibly shorter or taller than one another[:@]

89 LX that is why they are rubbing on the front. Lets see the first thing everyone will tell you is you need the fenders off a 91 - 93 because they have a 1" wider opening at the point where your rub is.
Get under the car and look at the fiberglass fender extensions and see how much distance there is from the edge of them to the edge of the metal part of the fender. Then IF you can find one take a look at a 91 - 93 LX then make your own logical conclusion. Is all I will say on this subject.
PS I am running the 245/45 - 17's on my 87 no rub!
