PAT_4.6

I recently bought a 1990 mustang GT and when I got it the idle was running at around 1000 rpm's well I tinkered with it a little bit and now it idles at around 500 rpms and almost dies so im assuming thats too low what I want to know is what is the idle for a 5.0? around 750 rpm's?????
