Default Electric fan frying fuseable links

I wired my electric fan up according to this schematic. Fan works great but after a couple days the fuseable link burns up and melts.

I am using a 30 AMP fuseable link. Any ideas?

Maybe need a heavier fusible link.

I am running a 3.8 taurus fan on the high setting. Works great but keeps burning up the links. Could I be using the wrong diodes?

A 30 AMP link was the biggest I could find at my local parts store. The diagram I used didn't specify so I went with the 30 AMP.

Or can I wire it up a better way? I run it off a toggle.

How did I know you were gonna say that!! which is why I asked the question I did!! the tauras fan stock was equipped with a 80 amp fuse I believe and had a 60 amp draw upon start up I believe..anyway YOU'LL need at least a 60 amp maxi fuse set up = large big fuse and I'm not sure if the 30 amp relay will handle it when the fan is on continuous speed it'd be a good idea to check amp drap to see if it's under 30 amp.. on initial start up is where the fan draws alot of current then levels off once it's running

No I was meaning i turn it off and on with a toggle switch now. I will get a bigger relay and link and see what happens. It does draw alot for about 2 secs then it levels off.

that's why it keeps popping the fuse..if you look at a factory fuse box for a tauras the high speed stage was fused by a 60 or 80 amp maxi fuse if I remember right...so you'll have to have the same type of protection in your circuit you built or it'll continually pop the fuse
