well after me not being able to find the idle/gas mileage problem it has been sent to the shop and is now back, i got new rear sprigns installed and the computer read that the MAF is not working right. but apparently it isnt the whole MAF, just the black plastic peice on top of it that the wires plug into. this sounds like my idle problem. would it change gas mileage too? i had good power still

If its giving an erroneous signal or incorrect one to the ECM it can cause all kinds of issues. Mine was giving me a miss and poor gas mileage, I replaced just the electronics at the time because I had a C & Hell but then I switched it back to stock and the car ran great. Still a little rich but I think that problems lies elsewhere. Also check the harness, my plug was intermittent which I am guessing caused all the problems with the electronics on the meter itself. When I wiggled the wires by the connector the idle would get better and all that jazz. I got one off a lincoln or something in the JY and spliced it in but ideally you would want a new connector.
