HELP: Oil pressure very low

If I have been driving for a while, (the engine hot), and then reach a stop sign or a light, the oil pressure moves frantically up and down and then eventually goes very low. At one point, the engine shut off. What is causing this?

when oil gets hot it gets thin, thats why people get oil coolers, use a heaver weight oil.

If it is the gauge, does it make the car turn off? The gauge is electric right, or mechanical?

the stock gauge is electric get a good aftermarket mechanical gauge. really easy to install.
