i dont think i hgad guide plates on the old ones...Also how do you check to see if theyre seated in the valves correctly ...i just dropped them in there lol

you need to stop guessing, take your old pushrods and measure them

if you do anything else that what I have stated above... you will deserve and ill effects and damage that you may cause to your engine.

ok well i put them side by side and they appear to be the same length...is theyer a way to make sure they are seated on the valve

basicly you can tell bye feel man if your experianced, also did you take a air gun and blow through the galley in the rod? make sure there clear? no factory defect in the craftsmanship of the rod? iv seen a rod blocked by metal when it was forged, also you need to pull your coil wire off and have someone in the car turning it over with the valve covers off and watch all the lifters and make sure they all look they moving correctly, its hard to screw up rods lol.. lenth is a issue, and can be off less then you can see by the eye man, need to messure them.

To check if the push rods are seated turn the motor over and make sure the valve goes up and down. As far as the car not starting if the push rods are not seated then they can't go up and down if they can't go up and the valves don't open if the valves don't you have no fuel, if you have no fuel your car won't start. Could be a lot of other things, but if you're hearing noises my bet is on the valve train.
