Default slippage and check engine light

First off I have an automatic and it just recently started slipping and not going into gear upon startup, but goes away once it warms up. What could the problem be? Its a 93' 5.0

Next upon acceleration my check engine light goes on and off... WTF? (99.9% sure that its not a short)

Any help would be awesome. My local shop says if it is internbal tranny issues then im lookin at $500 to start out... F*** THAT! I can drop it and get it rebuilt for less.

the Check engine light and slippage are two seperate issues...tranny is an AOD and if it's slipping check fluid level first..if it's okay expect a rebuild...if you can get a rebuild less than 500 so be it do it yourself.....as for cel..run a koer test and see what codes are spit out
