Default RE: Fuel Filter?

Can anyone tell me if a fuel filter on backwards will cause the fuel to not flow right and/or cause a car not to idle or even run like should? [sm=headbang.gif]

I can tell you that every fuel filter I've ever seen has an arrow on it to indicate which way it should be put on. I've never put one on backward, so I don't know. Get under the car and look for the arrow.

To answer your original question, Yes a 5.0 will run with the fuelfilter installed backwards just fine. But the filter will not filter worth a darn., meaning you coulad be getting all sorts of junk from the tank up into the lines and so on. If theres any doubt you better check it .

You know on my mark viii it is impossible to put the filter on wrong because of the bracketry and the filter has 2 different size hoses at each end.

The arrow should point inline with the direction of fuel flow from the tank to the engine.
