Fuel pump going bad?

RE: Fuel pump going bad?
I suggest you change a fuel pump with as little as possible gas in the tank, the less gas the lighter the tank. you will need a special tool to disconect the fuel lines.
First spray tank strap bolts with a penetrating oil, support the tank with a jack, take out the filler neck retainer bolt and tank strap bolts, drop tank a couple of inches and pull the filler neck out, drop the tank till you can get your hands above it to disconect the electrical conections and the fuel line, drop the tank the rest of the way, unscrew the hold down for the fuel pump with a hammer and screwdriver, pull out the old fuel pump, do the reverse to re-install

When my stock fuel pump went in my 89GT it gave no warning at all, after pulling it and looking it over, found the cause to be one of the wires powering it broke off. so it is not just the pump sometimes, replaced it with a 255lph and that thing sings loud compared to the stocker.
