Default Clutch cable install, help, fast!

Okay, I got the new cable almost in. It's a $24 advanced auto replacement and doesn't look too bad. So I have it almost in, I have it hooked to the quadrant, bolted into the engine bay, routed through the engine, and almost on the fork, thats were the problem is. I have the cable sitting in the little cable holder on the trans, but there's an inch or so between the end of the cable and the clutch fork. Is this normal? If not what could cause it? If so how can I get the cable to the clutch fork. I tried pulling the clutch fork a little but that didn't help. What do I do!

You have to pry the fork forward and slip the cable in. It's not gonna just slide right in or it would be too loose.
