Default putting oil pan gasket on with engine in

i got the engine in and i'm trying to put the gasket on with the two metal pieces but its very hard with the engine still in . motor mounts tranny is out. any tricks?

so what metal pieces are hard to get out.....your not talking about the strips that go under the bolts that run the length of the pan??? if so just undo all bolts and pop off with a screwdriver and pop pan down and lay rags in it so when cleaning gasket surface crap won't fall in pan and I BELIEVE YOU MAY NOT BE ABLE TO PULL PAN OUT ALL THE WAY DUE TO CLEARANCE ISSUES BUT if just replacing the gasket that's all you'll need to do

i'm talking about putting them back on....they dont stay in place and fall in the pan or out the car. should i screw 1 side in at a time.. i never thought this would give me a problem but it is lol

when i did mine i just did each side 1 at a time, id get just 1 bolt started and let it hang down then get another bolt started on the opposite side of the bracket
