Default Changing oil pan gasket. What else to do?

Hello all,

I have a stubborn oil leak from my oil pan gasket. My mechanic said either to lift the engine 3 inches (doesn'tthink is good idea) or drop K-member. He said to drop the K-member than while he was there to change stock headers too.

Is there any other mods I should think about while I am there or is this the best way?

I have a 91 5.0 5 speed with 150 kms.

Thanks,

Fairlee

Use the Fel Pro 1 piece pan gasket. That's what I run with a VERY small amount of silicone at the 4 corners and around the half circle at the front and rear. The rest dry and no leaks. It's much easier to deal with the 1 piece, and it also comes with screw in clips that go in some of the pan bolt holes to hold the gasket in place for you, and clip the oil pan on as well.

Thanks 67mustang302,

Is there any other mods I should think about (ie. headers) while I am there?

Thanks,

depends on your budget.....if you got the money go ahead and get a tubular k-member kit, and some coilover's.

I did mine by jacking the engine up, its very easy only 2 blots just support it. headers are easily done with the engine how it is. Now if you were going long tubes that a different story

Also check your timing chain cause you need to drop the pan for that and they want you to piece the front oil pan gasket to the rest

I already changed my timing chain.

I was thinking headers but I am not sure between Long or shorties. What is the performance difference? Is there a hp difference?

Thanks,

Fairlee
